Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

This silky garment was created from the webs of three Phase Spiders. Syrix, Franjez, and Heritis were proud leaders of the Border Ethereal until tricked by a priestess of the Drow god Lolth into giving up their silk for the promise of great riches. The priestess instead wove the three webs together with arcane thread and disappeared from that place.

While wearing the Ethercloak in it's dormant state, any creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against you. If you take damage, the property ceases to function until the start of your next turn. This property is suppressed while you are incapacitated, restrained, or otherwise unable to move (see also Cloak of Displacement). You also have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics and Stealth) checks.  The cloak once attuned looks like an ordinary table cloth and emits a faint magical aura (Illusion DC 16).

The Ethercloak in its Dormant state has a mild sentience, reflecting the strongest feelings of the wearer to form a bond similar to nurturing. The bond quickly grows unhealthy though, leading the wearer to question the intentions of even their closest allies.
If a player attunes to the Ethercloak (Dormant) for 3 days in a row, and the player takes damage while in an underground setting there is a 20% chance the Ethercloak will be Awakened.
