While holding this shield, you can speak its command word as a bonus action to cause it to animate. The shield leaps into the air and hovers in your space to protect you as if you were wielding it, leaving your hands free. The shield remains animated for 1 minute, until you use a bonus action to end this effect, or until you are incapacitated or die, at which point the shield falls to the ground or into your hand if you have one free.
Clerics who worship Selune are granted a +5 bonus to any Charisma checks they make while using this shield. It is designed with the symbol of the goddess in the center and moonbeams radiating out around it. If so desired, the attuned character may speak the command phrase "May the light of the Moonmaiden bless us" and cause the shield to radiate soft moonlight, shedding bright light out to 30 feet and dim light out to 60 feet.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
