Long ago, there was a powerful wizard who lived in a castle at the court of a king. Once a year, a tournament was proclaimed for all of the greatest knights in the realm. The winner of this tournament would get an item blessed by the powerful wizard. One year, a knight was championed and he chose to have his armor blessed by the wizard. The knight didn't get along with the wizard, and plotted to get him thrown out of the court. Out of spite, the wizard cursed the champion's armor.
Whenever a new encounter begins, the wearer has to roll a 1d12 die to decide which armor they will be wearing for the remainder of the encounter:

This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
