The black blade of this sword is crafted from a mysterious arcane alloy. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. While the sword is on your person, you are immune to effects that turn undead. This blade has 3 charges (recharges after a long rest), which can be used for one of the following effects:
Dark Blessing. While holding the sword, you can use an action to expend a charge and give yourself 1d4 + 4 temporary hit points.
Disheartening Strike. When you hit a creature with an attack using this weapon, you can expend a charge to fill the target with unsettling dread: the target has disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn. The creature ignores this effect if it’s immune to the frightened condition. When you use a charge of Disheartening Strike, you can also include one of the following effects, regardless of Disheartening Strike's effectiveness.
- Radiant Mark. When you deal damage to a creature, you also magically apply a Radiant Mark, which lasts until the end of your next turn or until the creature is hit by an attack. While marked, attacks against that creature have advantage, and it can't benefit from invisibility. Moreover, the next time that creature is hit by an attack before the end of your next turn, it takes an additional 4d8 radiant damage as the mark explodes.
- Radiant Thread. In place of dealing damage, you tie a magical radiant thread to the creature, binding it to your blade. The next time you hit a different creature with the Acheron Blade before the end of your next turn, both the hit target and the target affected by Radiant Thread take the same amount of damage.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Bonus: Melee Weapon Attacks, this item can only be attuned to by someone attuned to the Book of Exalted Deeds. If one is attuned to both, they gain an additional attunement slot., Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
