An ornate amulet, of which the charm is a small, shiny carving of an insect of indeterminate species, almost as if an amalgam of many. Peering at it for too long causes a feeling of unease, and an itchiness under ones skin.
While in combat, the wearer can use an action to transform a part of their body into something resembling an insect, for four hours. However, doing so will cause the wearer to suffer one D6 + 2 damage. Certain parts can be transformed a second time to enhance the bonus, at and additional cost of one D6 + 4 damage. This requires another action.
While transformed, due to the strange magic flowing through them, the wearer will only recover half the amount of health from healing potions or spells. Additionally, due to how much stress this puts your body under, transforming more than 4 times between a long rest adds a level of exhaustion. De-transforming does not count to this.
The body parts that can transform are: left arm, right arm, legs, and torso.
The bonuses each transformation gives are:
Arms: Your arm turns into a large, mantis-like claw. You lose the ability to hold a weapon with any transformed arm, but your unarmed strikes deal one D8 + STR/DEX (whichever modifier is higher) slash damage. At second level transformation, the claw becomes sharper, dealing two D6 + STR/DEX (Whichever modifier is higher) of slash damage.
Torso (requires no armour): Your skin hardens, becoming covered in a hard, chitinous shell, adding +2 AC, while still being considered unarmoured. Second level transformation causes the shell to become harder, adding another +1 AC, and becomes spiked, causing anyone who comes in direct contact (E.G. unarmed strike, or thrown into/at) to take one D4 of piercing damage.
Legs: Your legs transform into that of a crickets, doubling your jump height/distance. Additionally, you can rub them together to make a cricket chirping noise.
