This looks like a regular apple, but if you listen closely you can hear faint sounds of chanting and cheering along with merry music.
If a PC decides to take a bite out of the apple and thus consume one of the charges, they roll a D8 and gain the ability to cast the spells (or disadvantage) of the rolled result until they take a long rest. Spells of level 1 or above may be cast using spell slots of the appropriate level, or for non-spell casters a the same number of times as your proficiency bonus. Cantrips may be used as one normally use cantrips.

The PC gains no spells. Instead they fall into a magical slumber. The PC may be awoken by a lesser restoration spell (or greater) or by a kiss from another creature of the same type (i.e. Humanoid/monster/fey). Otherwise they will sleep for 24 hours, or until their companions decide to take a long rest.
