This device somewhat resembles an octopus, with mechanical arms that outstretch from a wrist guantlet mount. It was designed and is typically used for theft and espionage missions.
Thieve's Gadgetry. While the acquisition Octopus is attached to you, you gain exceptional skill in executing stealth and theft operations. you gain the following benefits.
- Your reach increases by 5 feet.
- You have advantage on dexterity(stealth) checks.
- You have advantage on dexterity(sleight of hand) checks made to pickpocket or pick up an item.
- You gain a climbing speed of 30 feet and can cling to walls and ceilings without strain.
- You may use the Ink Cloud ability from the octopus' stat block. The recharge effect still applies, and carries over when the octopus is reconfigured.
Reconfigure. As an action, you may remove the octopus from your person, and have it transform into a construct companion. The construct uses the Octopus stat block, except it has a movement speed of 30ft and a climbing speed of 30ft, it does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe, and it's a construct. While the octopus is reconfigured, you may see through its eyes and communicate with it telepathically. In combat, it takes it's turn immediately after yours, but only takes the dodge action unless commanded by you as a bonus action.
