While attuned to this weapon you have the following benefits:
You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Shadow Strike: When you make a ranged attack with the Abyssal Bident, it ignores half-cover, three-quarter cover, and has advantage against creatures in darkness or dim light.
Soul Drinker: When you score a critical hit with the Abyssal Bident, the weapon absorbs a portion of the target's life force. You regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt by the critical hit.
Spectral Grasp. As an action, you call upon a the power of a spectral being, causing the bident to radiate a chilling darkness. All creatures of your choice within a 15-foot cone originating from you must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or take 4d6 necrotic damage, or half as much on a successful save. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Shadow Step. When you hit a creature with a Ranged Attack using the Abyssal Bident, you can use a bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space adjacent to the target. This teleportation can be used once per turn.
Cursed. This Bident is cursed, and becoming attuned to it binds you to its malevolent power and can not be un-attuned by regular means. The curse manifests as an increasing connection to darkness and shadows, affecting you both physically and mentally.
While cursed you are affected by the following:
Darkened Aura: Your presence becomes imbued with an eerie darkness. Whenever you are in dim light or darkness, you emit an unsettling aura. Creatures that can see you have disadvantage on Charisma (Persuasion) and Charisma (Intimidation) checks. Additionally, while you are in dim light or darkness, you have disadvantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made against creatures that can see you, but have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks made against creatures that can see you.
Tainted Spirit: The connection to shadows starts to corrupt your mind and soul. You become more susceptible to fear and despair. Whenever you fail a Wisdom saving throw against being frightened or charmed, the effect is intensified, imposing disadvantage on subsequent saving throws against the same effect for 24 hours.
Shadow Hunger: Your craving for darkness and shadows grows over time. You find yourself drawn to dark places and feel an urge to embrace the shadows. If you spend an entire day without being in dim light or darkness, you suffer one level of exhaustion until you fulfill your craving.
Whispering Shadows: In moments of quiet or isolation, you start hearing faint whispers in your mind, originating from the depths of the Abyssal Bident. While these whispers are not inherently malicious, they can be unsettling or manipulative. You have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing. Sleep becomes increasingly difficult the longer you are attuned to the Bident. Whenever you complete a long rest, roll a d20 on a 1 you suffer 1 level of exhaustion and do not gain the benefits of a long rest. This number increases by 1 every time you fail to to get a nights rest.
Proficiency with a Trident allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
