While attuned to the Arcane Communicator, you can use it to send and receive messages to and from another Arcane Communicator. To send a message, you must hold the device up to your ear and speak into it, addressing the intended recipient. The message can be up to 25 words long. The recipient must also be attuned to an Arcane Communicator and within 500 miles of your location to receive the message.
Once a message is sent, it is instantaneously transmitted to the recipient, and they can hear it clearly in their mind, as if spoken directly to them. They can reply to your message in a similar manner, but their reply must also be 25 words or less.
In addition to its communication capabilities, the Arcane Communicator also functions as a regular cellphone within a range of 100 feet. It has a built-in phone book feature that can store up to 10 contacts, and you can make local calls, send short messages, and set alarms using its interface.
The Arcane Communicator has 3 charges. Each time you send or receive a message, 1 charge is expended. The device regains all expended charges at dawn.
If the Arcane Communicator is lost or destroyed, you can use a ritual that takes 1 hour to perform and requires 100 gold pieces' worth of rare materials to attune a new Arcane Communicator, allowing it to connect with the previous recipient(s) of your messages.
