Created by the priests of the storm god, this sacred oil was used during key rituals. Sealed within a double-walled glass flask is a softly glowing, cloudy, indigo liquid that seems to roil within the container like a menacing storm cloud. The oil is so viscous that it drips slowly in large gelatinous globs from the container’s spout when poured.
This oil must be applied to a metal weapon to be activated and takes 1 minute to apply. The flask contains enough to coat 2 slashing or piercing weapons or up to 10 pieces of slashing or piercing ammunition.
The oil will wear off the weapon over the course of a single day, leaving it mundane and inert. A heavy cloth or thick cloth gloves must be used to apply the oil evenly. Any contact with the skin will result in a shock inflicting 1d4 lightning damage. If the oil is consumed or placed into someone’s mouth it will inflict 1d8 lightning damage.
When activated on a metal weapon, any creature struck with that weapon takes an additional 1d8 lightning damage.
One time per application, the person holding the coated object can mentally envision a storm while attacking an opponent. In addition to any damage caused by the weapon upon a successful hit, with a rumble of thunder, a bolt of lightning will chain out, striking the main target as well as two others that are within 30 feet of the first. Each target must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d8 lightning damage on a failure, or half as much damage on a success.
