Gifted to Helga by her resurrected wife upon the rogue’s return to the Killjoys, the Amulet of the Phantom Battalion harnesses the undead spirits of the mousefolk slaughtered during the Great Chicken Coup of 1669. It is a round token of Celestic Bronze inscribed with the arcane sigil denoting Necromancy and control of the undead, mounted on a leather cord to be worn around the neck. The Amulet can be used once per long rest.
The Phantom Battalion serves as the party’s lair action, acting on initiative count 10 (losing initiative ties). It can use one of the following actions, and it cannot use the same action twice in a row:
Poltergeist. The ghosts of the fallen lift one visible creature on the battlefield, comtrolling it to the Battalion’s whim. The creature must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be restrained and moved up to 30 feet in any direction. The creature will remain restrained until the next lair action is utilized, or the creature can use an action to make the saving throw.
Withering Touch. A swarm of spirits envelops one visible creature on the battlefield, causing it to feel the suffering of their undeath. The creature must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or suffer 6d6 necrotic damage and have their hit point maximum reduced by that amount, half upon a success with no reduction to its maximum.
Spiritual Morale. All allies on the battlefield heal 4d8 hit points.
Sphere of Fear. A cloud of dark horror coalesces in a 30 foot radius sphere on the battlefield. All creatures of the party’s choice within that sphere must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or suffer 2d8 psychic damage and become frightened, half upon a success with no additional effect. A frightened creature must its reaction to use all of its movement to escape the cloud. While the Sphere of Fear remains on the battlefield, a frightened creature has disadvantage on all attack rolls and cannot willingly move closer to the Sphere.
