Weapon (longsword), rare

This unique and custom-made chainsaw is built for function and versatility. Belonging to Ash Williams, it is crafted in such a way that it can be attached to his wrist stump, making it a part of him. This chainsaw requires gasoline to function, but in desperate situations, it can draw upon Ash's life force for power.

Stats:1d8+3 slashing damage, versatile (1d10+3)

Properties: Versatile, Special

Special: If Ash is wielding the chainsaw with no charges left, each time he makes an attack, he takes 1 HP of damage. This damage cannot be reduced or prevented by any means.

Fuel: Ash's Chainsaw has 10 charges, each lasting for 1 minute of continuous use in combat. Outside of combat, the chainsaw can be used more sparingly to perform tasks such as cutting trees, without expending a charge. Activating the chainsaw consumes 1 charge, and if the chainsaw stalls or is stopped, it requires another charge to start again. It takes an action to refuel the chainsaw, restoring all expended charges.

Versatile: This weapon can be used with one or two hands. A damage value in parentheses appears with the property—the damage when the weapon is used with two hands to make a melee attack.

Activation: As a bonus action, Ash can activate or deactivate the chainsaw.

Intimidation: When active and clearly visible, Ash's Chainsaw grants Ash advantage on Intimidation checks.

Critical Chainsaw Massacre: Upon a critical hit, the chainsaw's roar intensifies, instilling fear in the enemies. Up to three creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you that can hear the chainsaw must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or become frightened until the end of your next turn.

Chainsaw Stall: If Ash rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll with the chainsaw, it stalls. He must use a bonus action and expend a charge on his next turn to restart it.

Note: While the chainsaw is active, it creates a loud noise, which could alert nearby creatures.

Note: To use the chainsaw without charges, Ash must be conscious and have at least 1 hit point.

Examples of fuel alternatives: (DM discretion)

Fuel Source Effects on Chainsaw Risks and Drawbacks
Gas/Oil Mixture Reliable fuel source. 1 charge per minute of continuous use. None
Alchemical Fire Increases damage output by +1 for a single attack. 10% chance of overheating, requiring an action to restart.
Distilled Spirits Operates chainsaw but less efficiently. 2 charges per minute of continuous use. None
Black Powder Grants +2 to damage rolls for a minute. 20% chance that the chainsaw could explode, causing 1d10 damage.
Fire Elemental Essence Grants +2 to damage rolls and emits bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. 10% chance that the user could suffer 1d4 fire damage per attack
Pyrohydra Sap Ignites the chainsaw, dealing an additional 1d4 fire damage on hit for a minute. 5% chance per attack to set the user on fire.
Processed Phoenix Feathers Adds +3 to damage rolls and causes the chainsaw to emit a brilliant, fiery aura. 5% chance of stalling the chainsaw due to the intense power.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
