This small black leather change purse snaps closed with a copper clasp and fits in the palm of one's hand, and is easily hidden on one's person. It is not considered an extra dimensional item due to it's small size, however this purse can hold up to 500 coins. The truly unique magic of this item however is that it is literally a "change" purse. Placing any sort of coin inside allows the user to pull out other coins worth the same amount. For example, placing 10 gold pieces in the purse would allow the user to remove 1 platinum piece, or 100 silver pieces, or 1000 copper pieces, etc. One exception to the coinage is that the monies inside can also be exchanged for equal value in 50 gp gemstones, or 100gp worthy diamonds as the top of the exchange chain, and thus the total amount in gold piece value the purse can hold is 50,000gp worth of coins, gems and/or diamonds, always using the highest denominations to determine the purse's capacity. This purse is excellent for making purchases in a crowded market without revealing how much monies the user has on hand to every thief. Reaching into the small purse and pulling out a silver piece might indicate there are greener fields for the average cutpurse.
20 coins can be added to or removed from the purse per turn.
Placing natural gems or jewels in the purse has no effect and the purse can only hold 10 gems or jewels that it itself did not create. Each such jewel temporarily reduces the purses capacity by 50 coins until those gems or jewels are removed.
The change purse does not need to be attuned, but if attuned it carries a Magic Mouth spell that causes the purse to scream loudly "Help, I've been stolen!!" repeatedly if ever it moves more than 5 feet from it's attuned owner. The screaming continues over and over every round until back in it's attuned owner's possession.
