Weapon (battleaxe), legendary (requires attunement)

This magical battle axe is black with a green sheen when viewed by candlelight or a purple-white sheen when viewed by magical light, do to being made of adamantine. The axe is coated in the blood of its victims, this blood always remains somewhat fresh and does not hinder the weapon's quality. It is said that some gods on some worlds, such as Maglubiyet, will communicate with the wielder via omens that take the form of blood seeping from the edge of an axe or as unusual behavior by the worgs and wolves within 25 feet of the axe and its wielder.

Adamantine. You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. If it hits an object, the hit is automatically a critical hit, and it can deal bludgeoning or slashing damage to the object (your choice). Further, damage from nonmagical sources can't harm the weapon.

When you attack an object with this magic axe and hit, maximize your weapon damage dice against the target.

When you attack a creature with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, that target takes an extra 14 slashing damage. Then roll another d20. If you roll a 20, you lop off one of the target's limbs, with the effect of such loss determined by the GM. If the creature has no limb to sever, you lop off a portion of its body instead.

In addition, you can speak the axe's command word to cause the blade of the axe head to shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. Speaking the command word again or sheathing the axe puts out the light.

While attuned to the Axe you gain glowing red eyes around which flames lick and sputter, giving you advantage on intimidation checks.

Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
