Amalgamengine

The "Amalgamengine" stands as a testament to the grit and spontenaety of artificers. Built to power a small ship, this chunky engine bears the marks of both ancient aquatic realms and modern innovation. The copper tubing is mismatched and designed to resemble an octopus in distress. While the tubes are flimsy, the frame is pure reinforced adamantite, adding to its grundgy nature. 

Harnessing the power of eldrich heating cores to heat the fuel and steam, the Amalgamengine propels itself with an offputting blend of steam and magic.

Patent Pending: On turning on the engine, the creature operating it can make a performance check (DC 18) to overheat the eldrich core making the Amalgamngine's tubes course and merge with each other creating an extra space for fuel with no added weight penalties. The tubes form back normally every dawn.

Granny Shift: Regardless of the driver's skills or performance modifiers, any time a driver or operator rolls a 1-3 on a performance check with the amalgamengine, it immediately shuts down. The operator must roll a natural 20 on performance to awaken the eldrich core and turn it on again (warranting the Patent Pending ability, but not warranting the Double Clutch ability). If the operator is an articifer, the engine can turn back on with a DC 15-20 performance check.

Double Clutch: Regardless of the driver's skills or performance modifiers, any time a driver or operator rolls a Natural 20 on a performance check with the amalgamengine, it ignores all following performance checks for the rest of the time it is used. With that said, THERES GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS. The good news is that the amalgamengine's core will be permanently heated as long as there is fuel, boosting (any engine vehicle under 1000 lbs) to 180 mph. Bad news is that it will use up all of its remaining fuel until there is none left at a pace 10 times its usual.
