Appearance: The Amulet of Illusory Enigma is a work of art, featuring an intricate silver chain that holds the central crystal. The crystal constantly changes colors, flowing through the entire spectrum and occasionally emitting pulses of ethereal light. When the wearer activates the amulet's abilities, the crystal's radiance intensifies, casting prismatic hues in all directions.
Properties:
-
Illusion Mastery: While wearing the Amulet of Illusory Enigma, the attuned wearer gains proficiency in the Illusion school of magic if they don't already possess it. Additionally, the wearer can expend a charge to cast the Major Illusion spell (3rd level) without requiring any components. The amulet has 3 charges, and it regains expended charges daily at dawn.
-
Enigmatic Illusionist: As an action, the attuned wearer can use the amulet to create a massive illusion within a cube with a 50-foot side length, centered on a point they can see within 120 feet of them. The illusion can encompass any scene, creature, or object of the wearer's choice, and it can involve sight, sound, smell, and even thermal sensations. The illusion can be as simple or as complex as the wearer desires, limited only by their imagination and understanding of the illusion's details.
The illusion lasts for up to 1 hour or until dismissed by the wearer as a bonus action. Creatures that interact with the illusion can make an Intelligence saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + the wearer's proficiency bonus + their Intelligence modifier to see through the illusion. If they succeed, they recognize the illusion as false. However, even if they succeed, they can't fully disbelieve the illusion, so they might still perceive some elements of it as real.
-
Illusionist's Sanctuary: Once per long rest, the wearer can use a reaction to activate the amulet's protective ability. When they are targeted by an attack or harmful effect, they can become invisible and intangible for a brief moment, causing the attack or effect to pass harmlessly through them as if they were an illusion. This effect lasts until the end of the attacker's turn.
