Aspect of the Sun

This magic shield glows with a divine light after being tempered in the forges of the goddesses. At each forge it grows in power, upgrading it's aspect and giving it a new ability.

 

Very Rare Variant:

Aspect of the Sun - You gain a +2 to your AC and all saving throws while attuned to this shield. It has 3 charges that reset at dawn.

Radiant Parry - When an opponent hits your exact armor class while making an attack roll, as a reaction you can spend 1 charge to perform a Radiant Parry, at which point the opponent must make a constitution saving throw (DC = 10 + =your constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus). Along with the wielder taking the damage, on a failure the opponent takes double damage in radiant, and on a success they take half.

 

Legendary Vairant:

Aspect of the Sun - You gain a +3 to your AC and all saving throws while attuned to this shield. It has 5 charges that reset at dawn.

Divine Blast - As a bonus action on your turn, you can expend 2 charges to take the amount of total damage you have taken in the past round and deflect it onto all creatures within a 15 foot radius. This damage is radiant and any allies within the blast radius are healed half on the damage dealt to enemies.

 

Artifact Variant:

Aspect of the Sun - You gain a +4 to your AC and all saving throws while attuned to this shield. It has 10 charges that reset at dawn.

Sunshield Bash - Your Radiant Parry gets upgraded so when an opponent misses an attack roll against you, you can choose to, as a reaction, spend 3 charges to do a Radiant Parry without the need of an exact armor class roll. The enemy rolls damage and is dealt double that amount in radiant, while you take none. 

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
