Armor (shield), artifact (requires attunement)

A circular steel shield with a rough-hewn amber stones in its center. Faint particles swirl within and the stones are framed by a golden setting shaped like the basket of a torch.

The original Warden, Daven Mugwort, was known for his boisterous personality and bravado in the face of danger. Long rumored to be the chosen warrior of the wolverine god Ailurus, he bore this shield until his death at the claws of a vicious Salawa in the Wastes of Ioros. His shield adorned Reedroot Hall for four generations until Mara Mugwort took it up in defense of the Hall against a Galltooth incursion alongside her cousin Gunnar Goodwort who wielded Silence Breaker. The resounding gong of the mace against the Surge Guard heralded the doom of the Beasts they hunted.

Eternal Fire: This shield has 10 charges that reset daily at dawn. As an Action, charges (Small Mana Remnants) can manually be reloaded, 1 charge per stone of 50g value.

Shield Wall: While wearing this shield, use your reaction when you or a creature you can see within 5 feet of you is targeted by an attack to grant the target a bonus to their AC against the triggering attack. The bonus is equal to the number of charges you expend from the shield (maximum 10). Until the start of your next turn, the target has the bonus to AC, including against the triggering attack.

Rebuke: As a reaction, expend 2 charges to punish an attacker within 60 ft with Aiulurian flame if they miss you. The target must make a Dexterity Saving Throw against your spell save DC or be engulfed in Ailurus' flames, taking 2d10 fire damage on a fail and half the result on a success.

(1) Hinge-Bane: Your melee weapon attacks deal maximum damage against inanimate objects.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
