This battle axe looks to be fashioned of fire blackened steel whose blade edge gleams a polished silver. The weapon is of obvious artistic overindulgence, as the entire length of the weapon, from butt spike to double bladed end is fashioned in the shape of a blackened, scaled winged serpent. The creature’s body makes the haft, with a three-pronged stinger at the end of the haft. The creature’s wings, unfurled, are the two blades, opposite each other while the screaming fanged mouth of the serpent comprises a push spike at the front end of the weapon. Completing the artistic work, once the weapon is grasped, the serpent begins to writhe and slither in its wielder’s hands, gently flapping its wings, but never compromising its functionality. The fanged mouth opens and closes, dislocating its jaw and opening impossibly wide to bare its fangs from time to time. When the command words are continually mumbled in a chant, the underside of the scales, the veins, and the claw tips begin to glow a deep red, radiating a faint light. Heat can be felt emanating from the blade and a red mist gently wafts from the heated blades and spikes of the weapon.
The Axe of Fire and Blood is a +1 weapon, conferring its bonus to hit, damage, and initiative. It also inflicts an additional 1d4 fire damage so long as the command word is chanted.
In response to the will of its wielder, once it has been attuned, the weapon will instantly transform from a battle axe to a halberd as a bonus action. If the wielder of this weapon has multiple attacks in a round, an attack with both configurations in the same round may be possible.
Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Fire, Versatile, Topple
