Two metallic armbands worn around the forearm and bicep with a small length of steel rope connecting them. A strong but collapsible hook sits by the forearm. The 100 ft of rope magically coils inside the second bracer.
Action: Make an attack roll (dex) against an object or creature (DC set by DM/armor class.) Objects take 1d6+modifier damage on a hit. Creatures can dislodge the hook with a contested athletics or acrobatics check equal to the original attack. As a bonus action, you can pull yourself 30 ft closer to the target, or if the target is movable, 30ft closer to you (they can resist with a contested strength check). Manually recoiling the rope draws it in by 30 ft per turn (BA). Alternatively, once per day you can instantly recall and recoil the hook as an action.
The steel string is very strong, with an AC of 17 and 20 hit points. It has a damage threshold of 10 points.
On a Nat 1, the device jams and rolls with disadvantage until you spend 1d4 hours repairing it. A second Nat 1 results in it jamming completely and needing to be sent for repair.
Proficiency with a Shortbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
