Arthur's Shield, Defender of Legends

Artifact (Shield), Requires Attunement

Arthur's Shield is a legendary relic said to have been wielded by the greatest of knights. Crafted by celestial beings and bestowed with the essence of courage, the shield is a beacon of protection and resilience.

Properties:

- While wielding Arthur's Shield, you gain a +3 bonus to AC.

- Arthur's Shield is considered a magical shield for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities to nonmagical attacks and damage.

- You have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects.

True Resilience:

Arthur's Shield has 3 charges. As a reaction when you are hit by an attack or targeted by a spell that requires an attack roll, you can expend 1 charge to grant yourself advantage on the saving throw or a +5 bonus to your AC against that attack. The shield regains expended charges daily at dawn.

Champion's Counter:

When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.

Legendary Actions (1/Day):

1. Aegis of Legends: As a bonus action, you can raise Arthur's Shield to summon an aura of protection. For 1 minute, you and all friendly creatures within 30 feet of you gain a +2 bonus to AC and have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects. Once this effect ends, Arthur's Shield cannot use this legendary action again until the next dawn.

Once Per Campaign Abilities:

1. King's Redemption: Once per campaign, in a moment of dire need, you can call upon Arthur's Shield's true potential. As an action, you release a brilliant burst of energy that cleanses evil and protects allies. Each creature within 30 feet of you must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 8d10 radiant damage and is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, it takes half damage and isn't blinded. Additionally, all allies within the area are healed for half the damage dealt. After using this ability, Arthur's Shield loses its legendary properties, becoming a symbol of its sacrifice.

2. Vow of the Virtuous: Arthur's Shield resonates with your resolve. Once per campaign, you can utter a solemn vow of protection and righteousness. For the next 24 hours, you gain the following benefits:

   - You are immune to being frightened.

   - You gain resistance to all damage types.

   - You can use your reaction to grant a creature within 30 feet of you resistance against an attack's damage. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Cursed Burden:

While Arthur's Shield grants immense protection, it also carries a burden. The shield's legacy demands that its wielder embrace the ideals of honor and justice. Those who wield the shield must uphold these virtues or face consequences and challenges tied to their moral integrity.

Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Resistance: Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks, Advantage: Spell Attacks
