This finely crafted stringed instrument was developed by destroying an old powerful magical woodwind. The wood contained runes that were used in the shaping and created a unique sound. Over time the initial powerful magic was lost but the lute still had retained its base magical abilities.
While attuned to this instrument you gain proficiency in the lute, if you aren't already. This instrument is also considered a spellcasting focus. While casting a spell that requires a spell save, as a bonus action, once per short rest you can play the haunting tune. If the targets can hear the tune, they must make the save with disadvantage. Targets that cannot hear you, constructs and undead are immune to this ability.
Also while attuned, spells using this instrument that require a spell attack, are increased by 1 to the spell attack bonus.
