Ao Qin’s Warp Whistle, known simply as the Warp Whistle, is a legendary magical item belonging to the Scarlet Dragon Emperor, Ao Qin.
It takes the form of a recorder, a member of the woodwind family of instruments, and is a foot and a half in length. It is constructed of a deep crimson wood with metallic gold trim and tied off with an alice-blue ribbon near the foot-joint (endpiece).
When blown into, the Warp Whistle mentally prompts the user for a location they desire to travel to, and in that instant, the user, and up to 8 willing creatures, are transported to that location via Teleportation. The user can only Teleport to locations they have previously visited, and they are only limited to locations on the Material Plane.
Additionally, when Teleported to a location by blowing into the Warp Whistle, the user comes under the effect of the Scarlet Warp—Upon appearing, the user is impervious to magical and physical attacks, and for 1 minute, comes under the effect of Pass Without Trace. The user can use the Warp Whistle 3 times per long rest.
It is unknown why Dragon Emperor Ao Qin would come to possess such a device. Perhaps to come and go as he pleased.
