The humble Arming Sword, one of the simplest type of sword, sits sizewise between a short sword and a longsword. It's the go to weapon of shield bearing soldiers and town guards. Sometimes it is used as a backup weapon by pikemen, spear and halbert users.
While the blade is longer than the one of his shorter brother, it's not as long a the one of the longsword. The Hilt allows only for one hand to hold it.
Though it is a powerfull cutting weapon, you also can stab with it.
The wielder can choose to deal slashing or piercing damage. This replaces the versatile tag of the longsword and adds the finesse tag of the shortsword
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Notes: Weapon Property: Finesse, Combat, Versatile, Sap
