Empowered Focus. While holding this ornate and fragile staff, you gain a +3 bonus to Armor Class, spell attack rolls, and your spell save DC.
Frost Infusion. You can change the damage type of any of the spells you can normally cast, to cold damage, if you wish to. In addition, you are resistant to cold damage while attuned to the staff.
Falling Snow Song. You are able to cast Sleep as a 9th level spell once per long rest. This ability allows you to bypass rolling for the hit points of the affected creatures, and you instead roll the maximum on each dice for this ability. This special ability also increases the radius of the spells effect from 20 feet, to 60 feet.
Crystal Coffin. If you take damage that causes you to drop to 0 hit points, this ability automatically triggers if you are holding the staff and attuned. You entomb yourself in crystal ice, which fades away at the end of your next turn. You gain 15 temporary hit points per character level, which take as much of the triggering damage as possible. Immediately after you take the damage, your speed is reduced to 0, and you are incapacitated. These effects, including any remaining temporary hit points, all end when the crystal ice fades. This can only trigger once per long rest.
The staff has 20 charges for the following properties. The staff regains 2d10 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 20, the staff regains all charges.
Spells. You can cast these spells, even if you do not the appropriate level to have access to the higher level spells on the following list. While holding this staff, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC and spell attack bonus:
While attuned, you can cast Detect Magic, Fog Cloud and Sleet Storm at-will, at their lowest level, without using any charges.
Fog Cloud (1 charge), Sleep (1 charge), Armor of Agathys (1 charge), Frost Fingers (1 charge), Ice Knife (1 charge), Hold Person (2 charges), Levitate (2 charges), Gust of Wind (2 charges), Sleet Storm (2 charges), Hypnotic Pattern (3 charges), Fly (3 charges), Ice Storm (3 charges), Conjure Minor Elementals (Ice Mephit only - 3 charges), Fire Shield (chill shield only - 4 charges), Cone of Cold (5 charges), Conjure Elemental (earth only, cloaked in snow and frost - 5 charges), Investiture of Ice (5 charges), Freezing Sphere (6 charges), Wall of Ice (6 charges), Teleport (7 charges)
The Prince of Falling Snow - the Snow Sorcerer - The Wandering Wizard - Fai D Flourite - was known by many names. He was an extremely powerful wizard who had an affinity for ice, snow and song magic. Fai is first shown sealing away King Ashura of Celes Country at the bottom of a pool. He transforms his creation Chii (originally from Chobits) into a net-like shield, instructing her to alert him if King Ashura should awake. He then uses his magic to transport himself through dimensions, to the shop of the Dimension Witch, Yūko Ichihara. Out of his traveling companions, Fai's motives for joining the group are the least clear. He is the only one to arrive at Yūko's Shop purposefully, by use of his own means. His wish is to never return to Celes country, but as the price for this would have been too great, so he travels worlds with the group instead. He fears King Ashura’s awakening, believing King Ashura would chase him through different worlds.
