Weapon (shortsword), rare (requires attunement by a non-caster)

This shortsword is semi-sentient and has a psychic link with its wielder while in their hand(s). It has the ability to move and attack on its own but won't do so without the wielder telling it to do so, and as such the wielder must bend it to their will by making use of their charisma stat.

It is required to make your attack rolls using charisma instead of your strength or dexterity stat.

A similar effect is placed upon the damage roll, you would roll [roll]1d6+1/roll] as usual and add proficiency if applicable, in addition to this add your base charisma bonus up to a max of +1 additional damage from this before adding proficiency.

  • becomes a regular short sword while under the effects of an antimagic field.
  • if str or dex is used for this weapon's rolls, they are to be rolled with disadvantage due to this weapon's extreme heft.
  • if less than 3 is rolled on the AC check, the player is to take 1d4 psychic damage as they failed to overpower the sword.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
