Ring, artifact (requires attunement)

This Ardent Idol is an earring smelted from pure, smokey black glass in the shape of a teardrop. Once pierced through your earlobe, the tail of the teardrop curls around tightly. The earring cannot be removed without magical intervention. While wearing this earring, you are attuned to the power of the Weeping One, the fallen Ardent God of guilt. The teardrop grants you an endless well of wounding energy that can be used to your advantage. Whenever you have the ability to make a weapon attack, you may instead choose to use the Idol to summon a dagger of black glass into your hand. These daggers are unlimited and magical, with a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls, and they deal an additional 2d6 acid damage on a hit, evanescing into thin air as soon as they are used. As a bonus action on each of your turns, you may choose to inflict a d6 of psychic damage onto yourself in order to double the acid damage of all of your attacks for the round.

If you miss an attack by five or more, the dagger shatters, and you take its intended damage yourself. You must then make a Wisdom saving throw or your max hit points are reduced by the damage dealt. If ANY self-inflicted damage from this Idol knocks you unconscious, you CANNOT be healed by a spell slot lower than 3rd level.

There is no "breaking the curse" in an extended form when it comes to this Idol. If you manage to restore Farhast, you retrieve this jewel. If you destroy him, he is gone and the glass shatters.

While bearing this jewel, you may cast the spell Speak with Dead a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus each day.

Oh yeah and here's the Assassin math: at 8th level, a rogue's Sneak Attack with a dagger is equal to 1d4 + 4d6 damage. With the bonus action used to double a Weeping dagger's acid damge, that would be 1d4 + 8d6. On an Assassinate autocrit, that's 2d4 + 16d-*******-6 (+8, from an assumed 20 dex and the weapon's constant +3 bonus). Please note that when stacked with the Assassin subclass, these daggers are broken as all hell, and that is absolutely on purpose.
