Weapon (longsword), rare (requires attunement)

Recruits aspiring to master the use of these weapons commence their training with a regular sword. If a recruit proves themselves worthy, they may demonstrate their skills with an Aether Sword. Only after this test are they permitted to forge their own weapon.

This blade was forged in the Nine Hells, where only the most experienced infernals craft these weapons. At the core of these weapons lies an infernal drive that, for its operation, requires not only infernal ore but also the blood of the wielder. Each time the wielder uses the Aether Sword, the hilt draws blood from them, inflicting 1d8 piercing damage. Through this sacrifice, the infernal ore responds, generating the required energy.

Blade Color: Red / Orange / Yellow

You can use a bonus action to speak this Aether Swords command word, causing to activate the Blade and Flames erupt from the Hilt. These flames shed bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet. While the sword is ablaze, it deals an 1d8 fire damage an 1d6 force damage to any target it hits. The flames last until you use a bonus action to speak the command word again or until you drop or sheathe the sword.

As long as the blade of this sword has not been conjured through the command word, the sword is only one-fourth of its activated length.
When attempting to hide the Aether Sword, you gain a +2 bonus to the Stealth check for that attempt. This only applies as long as the blade is not activated.
