Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement)

A shard created from the combination of a dragons body and a fraction of its soul. These shards are either created willingly by a dragon, taking a scale off their own body and imbuing it with a small piece of their soul, however this process can only be done by elder dragons, OR these shards are forcibly created from the body of a dragon living, or freshly killed, tearing a piece of the dragons body off, and forcibly tearing a part of their soul to be imbued into said piece. These shards can be collected and combined into a weapon of the players choice.

2 Shards for any simple one-handed weapons

3 Shards for any simple two-handed weapons OR any martial one-handed weapons

4 Shards for any Martial two-handed weapons

When created into a weapon these shards imbue the remaining power of the dragons soul into the weapon providing a 1d6 element damage to the weapon based on the original dragons type or color (In event weapon is crafted from a multitude of dragon shards of different types, the type can be chosen from any of the available shards). The lingering soul also imbues the weapon itself with power, gradually growing stronger as the user does, providing a +1 damage bonus per 5 levels of the user. The element damage also grows with the user, reaching 2d6 element damage at lvl 10 and 3d6 element damage at lvl 18.

In the event a shard is forcibly created from a dragon, living or dead, there is a chance (50% or DMs choice) that the weapon created with this shard will also be cursed from the lingering regrets, or hatred, of the dragon used in it's creation. Only one curse will be attached to any weapon created with a cursed shard, regardless of how many cursed shards are used (1dx of amount of shards used, that are cursed, or DMs choice). The curses of these weapons attach themselves to the user of the weapon, regardless of if the weapon is removed from the users possession.

When a dragon shard is created and used from a willing dragon the weapon instead is imbued with a small blessing. These blessings give small magical effects to the user of the weapon. When weilding a blessed weapon in this way, the blessing is attached to the user and can only be removed after meditating with the weapon for a full day.

Only 1 of either a curse or blessing may be applied to a weapon regardless of how many shards are used in its creation. Whichever curse or blessing is applied to the weapon in its creation that shard is considered the "core" shard and the weapon will take on the elemental effects of that shard/dragon regardless of what other dragon shards are used.

Available Curses

Curse of Revenge and Hatred - The user of the weapon with this curse attached feels a constant draw towards the individual who killed the dragon of this curse. When within a 50 feet radius of the individual the user feels an uncontrollable urge to hunt this individual down and kill them without mercy, regardless of who, or where, this may be. However the unbridled rage filling the user of this weapon causes them to fight incredibly sloppy, causing all attack rolls against this person to be at disadvantage. (This curse only applies to shards created from dead dragons, and the target is only the person who killed the dragon, not the person who created the shard). Once the individual hunted by this curse is dead, it is lifted from the user and the weapon gains a permanent 1d4 to attack rolls and an extra 1d6 of the element damage of the weapon.

Curse of Dragons Fury - The user of this weapon gains the ability to tap into the dragons fury twice/day as a free action igniting themselves in a burning aura. Doing so gives the user a extra 1d8 on all damage rolls of this weapon, however for every roll of this extra damage, the user takes 1d6 damage as the fury of the dragon burns away at their life. This effect lasts for 1 minute, or until the user is downed in any way. The user of this weapon can remove the curse by meditating with the weapon for 30 total days (does not need to be in a row). When the curse of the weapon is removed the user can still tap into the fury of the dragon of this weapon, however they no longer take damage on every swing and the damage is changed to 1d6.

Curse of Unbridled Dragon Magic - The user of this weapon gains disadvantage on all spell attacks and rolls of spells not labelled as Dragon, or not of the element of the associated dragon this weapon is made of. However they gain advantage on all spell attacks and rolls of said spells. A user of this weapon can remove the curse by utilizing all available spell slots and meditating with this weapon for 5 days (not in a row just total). when the curse is removed the user keeps advantage on spell rolls with spells labelled as Dragon, or of the associated element of the weapon

Curse of Wild Dragon Magic - Once/day (+1 charge every 5 levels), the user of this weapon is forcibly pulled into the wild magic of the dragon and is given 1 random effect from the Barbarian Rage Wild Magic table the first time they swing this weapon every day (when extra charges are available a cooldown of 10 minutes to 1 hour is applied. Can be random amount of time or DMs choice). The curse of this weapon can be lifted by the user by meditating with the weapon for 10 total days (does not need to be in a row) during a long rest. When the curse is removed the user can instead choose to activate this effect once/day (+1 charge every 6 levels)

Meditating with cursed weapons - When a weapon made from these shards is cursed the user can potentially (only when listed) remove the curse by meditating with this weapon. This meditation process requires the user to meditate during a long rest with the weapon, where the user remains in contact with the weapon during the full rest period. This meditation leads the user to contact the soul of the dragon within this weapon that imbued it with the curse. This meditation process requires the user to commune with the dragon to either calm their fury, or learn how to control the dragons power directly from them. Do to the nature of being a curse, dragon souls interacted in this way will be Antagonistic at best, or outright aggressive at worst. This is regardless of the type of dragon that is imbued in the shard, since a cursed shard is only created through forceful or aggressive actions.

Available Blessings

Blessing of Elemental Smite - The user of this weapon when performing a successful attack can roll an extra 1d2 of the matching element of the primary element of this weapon for every 6 levels of the user. The user can meditate with this weapon for 50 total days to embolden this effect improving the damage to 1d6 per 5 levels of the user.

Blessing of Dragonfire - The user of this weapon receives a special ability to breath fire in a 25 foot cone coming from the users mouth. This dragon fire breath is performed as a bonus action and deals 1d4 damage of the matching element of the weapon. The user of this weapon can meditate with the weapon for 25 total days and empower this effect, increasing both the range and damage by +5 feet of range and +1d4 damage every 6 levels of the user.

Blessing of Dragon Resistance - The user of this weapons recieves +1 AC while weilding this weapon as well as recieves -5 damage from the matching element of the weapon from any damage sources of that element. The user of this weapon may meditate with the weapon over 60 total days, bolstering the effects of this blessing to +2 AC while weilding the weapon, and halving the damage of any damage matching the element of the weapons element.

Blessing of Dragon Regeneration - The user of this weapon as a free action may once per day stabilize themselves from any downed or death state, they may also heal themselves for 1d4 healing with 2 charges +1 charge per 6 levels of the character. These charges will reset after a long rest. The user may meditate with the weapon over 30 days to improve the effects of this weapon. After the meditation the stabilization effect may be applied to any person within a 10 foot radius of the user and recieves an extra charge every 7 levels. The healing also improves to 1d6 healing and can also similarly be applied to any person within 10 feet of the user of the weapon with getting +1 charges for healing every 4 levels instead of 6.

Meditating with blessed weapons - Meditation with blessed weapons works almost identically as it does with cursed weapons, where the user must be in full contact with the weapon during the full duration of a long rest. Similarly meditation with blessed weapons is a communion with the soul of the dragon who imbued the shard for the weapon where the user must talk to the dragon soul and learn more about the power they have been granted. Unlike with cursed weapons and shards however which are created through aggressive means, blessed weapons and shards are given willingly and so the dragon soul is much more agreeable in temperament regardless of the actual type of dragon.
