Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a Bard)

The Anam Feirin, otherwise named the Atan'ana or Heartsong, is a legendary instrument of great power, forged by the Fey Ashana to her human lover. The Heartsong is a Travler's Harp forged from mithril and gold, molded into the shape of twining vines and leaves and with strings made from twined unicorn hair. It is said those who hear the sound of the Anam Feirin will despair for they know they will never hear a sound more beautiful.

While attuned, the Heartsong acts as a spellcasting focus for its user. The harp requires two hands to be used in its Awakened or Exalted form, otherwise it remains Dormant.

Dormant

The harp grants the following benefits in its dormant state:

  • You gain a +1 bonus to your spell attack and spell save DC
  • When you use your Bardic Inspiration feature, your target gains 5 temporary hit points.
  • You are unable to be affected by Silence. Additionally, a creature who has been magically deafened can still hear your voice if you choose.

Awakened

When the harp reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:

  • When being played, all spells cast through the harp gain a +2 bonus to their spell attack modifier and spell save DC.
  • All performance checks made while playing the harp are made with advantage.
  • When being played, the harp has three charges, and regains all used charges after you finish a long rest. You can expend 1 charge to:
    • Reroll a Bardic Inspiration die. The second roll must be used.
    • Grant one target advantage on their next attack roll when you use a Bardic Inspiration to inspire them.

Notes: Bonus: Spell Attacks, Bonus: Spell Save DC, Advantage: Performance, Bard
