Ring, artifact (requires attunement by a by a spell caster)
This simple metallic crimson-red ring is adorned with delicate runes encircling its band. At the top, it widens and flattens into a small signet featuring a beautiful carving of the symbol of the school of illusion magic.
Dormant:
While attuned to the Aetherweaver's Ring in its Dormant state, it gains the following benefits:
- Spellcasting Focus: You can use the ring as a spellcasting focus.
- Concentration Mastery: When casting spells from the illusion school of magic with the ring as the spellcasting focus, you can concentrate on three illusion spells at once. You roll for concentration for each of the spells separately.
Awakened:
While attuned to the Aetherweaver's Ring in its Awakened state, it gains the following benefits:
- Enhanced Illusions: The ring functions as a +2 spellcasting focus. Illusions cast with the Aetherweaver's Ring as the spellcasting focus gain an additional layer of intricacy, making them more challenging to discern. The DC for saving throws against your illusion spells increases by 2.
- Deceptive Mastery: When you cast an illusion spell using the Aetherweaver's Ring as the spellcasting focus, you can choose to make the illusion more convincing. Creatures interacting with the illusion have disadvantage on saving throws against it. Additionally, your illusions can now incorporate minor sensory effects (e.g., faint sounds, subtle odors) to enhance their realism.
- Illusory Distraction: Once per short rest, you can use a reaction to cast Mirror image on yourself on an attack roll against you, as the Aetherweaver's Ring projects a momentary illusory duplicates of yourself, confusing your attacker.
Exalted:
While attuned to the Aetherweaver's Ring in its Exalted state, it gains the following benefits:
- Empowered Focus: The ring functions as a +3 spellcasting focus. Illusions cast with the Aetherweaver's Ring as the spellcasting focus gain an additional layer of intricacy, making them more challenging to discern. The DC for saving throws against your illusion spells increases by 3.
- Reality Distortion: Once per day, you can turn one illusion into reality for 1d10 minutes. During this time, you don't need to maintain concentration over the spell. If the illusion depicts a creature, it must have a stat block that can be assigned to it. Make a Charisma saving throw (DC 10 + CR of the creature) for control over the creature. On a successful save, you can command the creature, and it acts after you in initiative.
