Description: This finely crafted light hammer seems to pulse with an otherworldly energy. The head of the hammer is adorned with intricate, aquatic-themed engravings, and the handle is made of a mysterious, dark material. When held, the wielder feels a faint connection to the ancient, alien mind of an aboleth.
Properties:
Base Damage: 1d6 psychic damage on a successful hit.
Resistance to Psychic Damage: The wielder gains resistance to psychic damage while attuned to the hammer.
Aboleth's Influence: As the Warlock grows in power and gains levels, the Aboleth's Mindforged Hammer can evolve. At the DM's discretion, after significant milestones or events, the hammer's power may increase. For example, it could gain additional psychic damage, new abilities, or heightened resistance to psychic damage.
Bond of the Mind: The wielder becomes attuned to the Aboleth's Mindforged Hammer, forming a unique psychic bond with the ancient entity within. As a result, the wielder cannot attune to or effectively wield any other weapons. Attempts to do so are met with a resistance from the Aboleth's influence, making it difficult for the Warlock to connect with other weapons. attempts to do so after 3 times the player will receive 1d4 the 1st attempt after the 3rd 2d4 after the 4th and 2d8 after the 6th
Aboleth's Whispers: Periodically, the Aboleth within the hammer may send cryptic messages or visions to the wielder, providing hints or insights related to the campaign's plot. This could be a source of guidance or an additional layer of mystery for the character.
Affinity Counter: The Aboleth's Mindforged Hammer has an Affinity Counter that levels up at the DM's discretion based on the character's interactions with the aboleth's influence, significant accomplishments, or plot milestones. The Affinity Counter can have different tiers, unlocking additional powers as it progresses.
Tier 1 (Starting): The hammer grants basic psychic damage and resistance to psychic damage.
Tier 2: After gaining a certain amount of Affinity, the hammer gains an additional 1d6 psychic damage, bringing the total to 2d6.
Tier 3: The wielder gains advantage on saving throws against psychic effects, and the psychic damage increases to 3d6.
Tier 4: The resistance to psychic damage becomes immunity, and the hammer's psychic damage increases to 4d6.
Tier 5 (Max Affinity): The Aboleth's Mindforged Hammer becomes a conduit for the Aboleth's power. The wielder can expend a use of their Mystic Arcanum spell slot to unleash a devastating psychic wave, dealing an extra 6d6 psychic damage on a successful hit. This ability can be used once per long rest.
Call Weapon Ability: The wielder can use a bonus action to call the Aboleth's Mindforged Hammer to their hand if it is within 60 feet. This ability can be especially useful in situations where the hammer is separated from the wielder or when the Warlock wishes to summon it from a distance. The weapon magically teleports to the Warlock's hand, accompanied by a faint, eerie sound reminiscent of distant underwater echoes.
