Staff (quarterstaff), artifact (requires attunement by a (requires attunement by a sorcerer, warlock, or wizard))

This crooked staff is carved from bone and topped with the skull of an Acererak, and currently serves as a vessel binding the lich's power, bound there by Vecna as punishment.   May be used as a +2 quarterstaff that strikes for 1D6 + 2D6 Necrotic damage.

While attuned to the staff, you gain the following benefits:

+2 to melee attacks\spell attacks
+3 to Intelligence and Arcana checks
You can't be blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, petrified, or stunned.
Undead with a challenge rating of 2 or lower will neither threaten nor attack you unless you harm them

Awakened Abilities:  The power of the staff may be awakened by invoking the name of the entity trapped within, Acererak.  By making a pact with the entity, the bearer gains access to some of Acererak's powers.  Once every seven days, the wielder may call directly on Acererak for aid, who will unleash a devastating (8D10) magical attack.

Charges: 3, regaining two per day.

The wielder of the staff may expend a charge to tap into the power of the staff to cast a spell determined by a D10 roll from a list maintained by the DM. The type and level of the spell would be unknown. The bodiless life force of Acererak empowers the staff and is imprisoned within it. Each time a creature other than the lich expends any of the staff's charges, there is a 50 percent chance that the life force tries to possess the staff wielder. The wielder must succeed on a DC 20 Charisma saving throw or be possessed, as Acererak takes direct control of the host body. If the intruding life force is targeted by magic such as a Dispel Evil & Good spell, it may become trapped in the staff once more. Once it takes control of another creature, it is unknown what the entity would do.

Grants the feat Mystic Conflux, awarding an additional attunement slot.
