Wondrous Item, unknown rarity (requires attunement by a Monk in a Long Rest)

This exceptional medallion was forged by denizens of the Elemental Plane of Water and consecrated by the venerable monks of the four elements. Athlanta, the monastery dedicated to the water element, safeguards this sacred artifact, granted only to the most fearless and skilled monk warriors who complete rigorous training and are chosen to become the protectors of the Water Plane itself. The Medallion of Athlanta is a masterpiece of magical design, its structure displaying a harmonious balance between shimmering blue stones and silvery metal. In the center of the medallion, an enchanted representation of the water symbol dances and swirls, evoking the currents of the Elemental Plane of Water. This fluid pattern can be manipulated by the bearer, altering the magical effects of the medallion according to their will.

Charges: This item possesses a total of 3 charges, regaining 1 charge per hour when submerged in water. The Athlanta Medallion must be immersed in water, either in a container or flowing water, for the charges to recover.

Magical Properties:

Water Boon: Grants advantage on Acrobatics checks while submerged. Also, you have advantage on Perception checks to detect submerged items and creatures within 18 meters.

Aquatic Combat: Drawing upon your seasoned mastery of the aquatic arts, you incur no disadvantage in underwater combat rules. Additionally, you acquire the Water Wave ability, bestowing upon you a magical ranged attack option with a range of 60 feet. Proficient in this attack, you can augment your accuracy by adding your Wisdom modifier to the attack rolls. The attack inflicts Cold damage equal to your martial arts die.

By expending 2 Ki points, you can amplify the damage of this attack to twice the value of your martial arts die.

Upon attaining the Extra Attack feature, you have the option to deploy one or both of these attacks within the same action.

Aquatic Phases of Athlanta: The medallion's water symbol undulates in diverse patterns—Cascade, Lake, Stormy Sea, and River. The mystical effects of the medallion shift in response to the flowing symbol, providing various benefits. A Monk attuned to the medallion can alter its effect during a short rest by engaging in a meditative session with the enchanted accessory.

Athlanta's Cascade: The Cascade phase grants the wearer the ability to detect natural water sources within a range of 1 kilometer. Additionally, the medallion can expend 1 charge to cast the spell "Create or Destroy Water." When using the "Create or Destroy Water" spell while the Athlanta Medalion is in Cascade mode, you can manipulate the water created by:

  • Adjusting viscosity, color, texture, and flavor of the water, creating a water-based beverage.
  • Crafting simple alcoholic beverages such as beers or basic wines, not exceeding the value of 5 silver coins.

Athlanta's Lake: In the Lake phase, the Athlanta Medalion bestows defensive benefits upon its wearer. You gain a +1 bonus to your Armor Class (AC). Furthermore, when utilizing the Monk ability "Patient Defense," you have the option to expend 1 charge to prolong the Dodge effect for an additional turn. Additionally, you can harness 1 charge to shape a protective water armor, granting you temporary hit points equal to 1d4+2.

Athlanta's Stormy Sea: In the Stormy Sea phase, the Athlanta Medalion amplifies your martial prowess with formidable abilities. You gain a +2 bonus to your attack rolls with monk weapons and unarmed strikes. By expending 1 charge from the medallion, you can infuse your limbs with aquatic energy, dealing additional cold damage equal to your martial arts die. Moreover, when utilizing the Monk ability "Flurry of Blows," you have the option to spend 3 charges to triple the martial arts die during that turn, delivering a devastating barrage of water-infused strikes.

Athlanta's River: In the River phase, the Athlanta Medalion grants enhanced mobility and fluidity to its wearer. You gain an additional 10 feet of movement and 10 feet of swimming speed. By expending a bonus action and a charge, you can transform into water, reconstructing yourself in an empty space and teleporting to a vacant location within 15 feet of your initial position. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks. Furthermore, when utilizing the Monk ability "Step of the Wind," you have the option to spend 1 charge from the medallion. This allows you to gain the ability to traverse liquid surfaces as if they were solid ground, effectively walking on water. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you cease movement.
