Amethyst Boutonniere

This elegant boutonniere is a testament to the timeless crafts of the elves: in place of a flower sits a large, flawless amethyst, painstakingly cut to resemble a blossoming rose. The amethyst seems to endlessly capture and refract light between gemstone petals, producing a scintillating display of purples from deep violet to near-white lavenders. The gem is faceted not in precious metal, but in grey ashen wood, filigreed with silver thorns, from the soul of Tellismir. The sepal, stem and leaves, rather than being carved, were coaxed and molded into their current shape in a process that took many decades; the detail is so fine one would swear that the setting was once part of a rosebush.
