Wondrous Item, uncommon
Used most often by Giant-kin, this massive bow stands taller than most with a heft unlike other bows. Made from a dense wood of high altitude, the bend and snap of the bow require the wielder to have either greater strength or stature most simply do not posses.
2d6 Piercing Damage
Disadvantage to Ranged Attacks if target is within 10 feet
Requires 13 STR
Range: in feet (200/800)
Notes: Damage: Piercing, Disadvantage: Ranged Attacks, Proficiency: Ability Checks, This bow's substantial size necessitates the use of specialized greatarrows. Weighs 15 lbs.
was super stoked when i saw this, but on equiping it to a character, they got proficiency in every singe skill
Yes, at the time of creation there wasn't a way to set requirements and the creation system was not very intuitive. Not sure if it has changed since, but it badly needs to be updated. I'll try to do so in the next few days. Thank you for bringing this back to my attention. 🙂
Not to be a bother, but this is still giving proficiency in everything. Just in case you were intending to use it yourself.
So not a bad bow, the adjustment to range compared to the longbow is quite fair (most I see double the range rather than up it some)
However there is a disconnect with your text and the requirement.
'Made from a dense wood of high altitude, the bend and snap of the bow require the wielder to have either greater strength or stature most simply do not posses.'
'Requires 13 STR'
Your average level 1 fighter/barb (sometimes even the cleric) has at least 15 strength
Depending on what route they wish to go your average level 1 druid has at least 13 strength
Most rangers have 13 strength (even the ones focusing purely on ranged have it as a just in case)
Your general everyday town guard has 13 strength
I've seen wizards with 13 strength (rare yes but still)
In other words the 13 strength requirement does not fit with your wording of needing greater strength that most simply do not possess.
I'd recommend bumping the requirement up to 15, a slight increase but it would help the requirement and the words in the description to fit better.
