Tinker's tools serve primarily as a repair kit. A typical tinkering kit contains a variety of hand tools, thread, needles, a whetstone, a small pot of glue, and several scraps of fabric. As an added bonus, this kit has been augmented specifically for Artificers with an Mending repair module!
This item is designed to replace the Tinkering Tools item as part of a Artificer's starting equipment. This allows Mending to be given to an Artificer as an additional default cantrip, but it cannot be swapped with The Right Cantrip for the Job class feature.
Tools include the items needed to pursue a craft or trade. Proficiency with a set of artisan's tools lets you add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make using the tools in your craft. Each type of artisan's tools requires a separate proficiency.
