Apollo's Crossbow is an exquisitely crafted weapon known for its impressive firepower and sleek design. Its metallic finish and intricate patterns make it as beautiful as it is deadly. The crossbow channels lightning energy, delivering powerful and electrifying shots.

Apollo’s Crossbow is a magic weapon that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.

Each successful hit with Apollo’s Crossbow deals an additional 2d6 lightning damage. The crossbow's lightning energy can arc to nearby targets. When you score a critical hit, the lightning bolt arcs out, causing each creature within 10 feet of the target to make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, each creature takes 1d6 lightning damage, or half as much damage on a successful save.

When you make an attack with Apollo’s Crossbow, you have advantage on attack rolls against creatures within 60 feet of you.

Apollo’s Crossbow is cursed. While attuned to the crossbow, you feel an insatiable desire for constant improvement and recognition. This compulsion might drive you to seek out challenges or opportunities for glory, sometimes recklessly. Additionally, you have disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened due to the weapon’s overwhelming drive for performance.

 

Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Damage: Lightning, Bonus: Magic, Once per long rest, when you hit a creature with Apollo’s Crossbow, you can invoke the Experience Surge. For the next 10 minutes, you gain an additional 1d6 experience points for every successful attack you make with the crossbow. This experience is considered temporary and doesn’t contribute to level progression but can be used to grant yourself temporary bonuses: you can gain advantage on one ability check or saving throw per attack made during this period.
