Ancient and perhaps one of its kind, the Amulet of Oberon is a powerful object created a very long time ago by the great Fae king Oberon for his favorite consort to be able to traverse back and forth from Faerun to the Feywild and back for their own rendezvous with one another. The consort, who has since passed, was an ancient ancestor of the Silverhand family who has been in possession of the item since and knows and utilizes its power from time to time. More recently, this amulet has been in possession of the sisters Laereal and Alustriel Silverhand.
The amulet is exquisite in beauty rounding out at nearly 4” in diameter with a large, rounded blood garnet set within a gold, polished setting. Oddly, the serpentine golden chain attached to this necklace is overly long, making it required to be wrapped several times if the wielder decides to wear it. The stone gives off a faint red glow and if one were to look close enough, you can see the eyes of the fey king himself reflected within. On the back of the amulet on the highly polished gold is an inscription in Sylvan that reads as follows:
Rema sotan unlock liamei nostaur,
Jishet rema mantas se key.
If the individual knows Sylvan this translates to:
You can unlock any door,
If you only have the key.
In order to invoke the magic this amulet carries, the wielder need only speak in Sylvan the words inscribed on its back while holding the amulet itself or its chain. If anyone nearby is also holding onto the chain, they will additionally fall prey to the amulet’s power. The wielder of the amulet will need to make a DC 15 Intelligence check if they understand how the amulet works. On a successful check, they cast the plane shift spell that will transport them (as well as anyone else holding the amulet or chain) instantly to the area of the Feywild they were concentrating on. Adversely, if they use this again once within the Feywild, it will take them back only to the exact spot they originated from within Faerun. On a failure or if they attempt to use this without knowledge of how it works, the wielder and each person also holding the amulet or chain will travel to a random destination within the Feywild, determined at the DM’s discretion/roll. As it will ALWAYS return to its originating spot within Faerun, no roll will be needed upon return.
Note: Be wary wielder of the amulet…Use this amulet at your discretion for each time it is invoked, the great King Oberon, himself, is made aware…
