This is a non-magical weapon.
The spiked chain does 2d4 + strength piercing damage.
This weapon has reach, so you can strike opponents 15 feet away with it. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, it can be used against an adjacent foe.
Grapple Attack: Upon a successful hit you can attempt to grab your opponent with the chain (he must be no more than one size larger than you). Opponent then makes Strength (athletics) or Dexterity (acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use), against the grapple DC (8 + Prof + Str or Dex), if he fails he is grappled. If the opponent does not free himself before your next action you can sustain the grapple if he doesn't make the DC a second time he is restrained. Each succeeding round your opponent is grappled or restrained he takes an additional 1d4+strength piercing damage.
Or
Trip Attack: Upon a successful hit you can attempt to trip your opponent with the chain (he must be no more than one size larger than you). Opponent then makes a Strength (athletics) or Dexterity (acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use) against the trip DC (8 + Prof + Str or Dex), if he fails he is prone.
