Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This old, worn amulet is constructed of multiple hexagons spiraling inward to frame the silvery outline of a life-sized eye. When the holder casts a spell they can choose to aim through the eye and expend a number of charges to gain certain effects. The amulet begins with 10 charges and regains 1d6 of them each dawn. While attuned to a spellcaster the hexagons slowly rotate, each one representing a charge. They vanish as charges are consumed and reappear when they are replenished.

By expending 1 charge the spellcaster can double the range of any single-target spell.

By expending 2 charges the spellcaster can choose to exclude a single creature or a 5-foot cube of space from the effects of an area-of-effect spell. They can then choose to expend another charge for each further creature or 5-foot cube they wish to exclude.

Finally, all remaining charges in the amulet can be expended to focus a damaging spell. Regardless of the spell's usual effects, this use is the spell can affect only a single target. For each charge expended from the amulet by using this affect, add an additional die of damage to the spell which it affects. Finally, when using this effect roll a d20. If the number rolled is greater than or equal to the number of charges expended, then treat it as a ranged spell attack to determine whether the spell strikes its target. If it is less than the number of charges, however, the amulet immediately explodes, destroying itself and causing the caster to be affected by the full effect of their own spell, including any additional damage die added by this effect.
