Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement by a warlock)

The Amulet of the Shattered Mind is a warped and cracked gem set in a delicate silver chain. It pulses faintly with a dim light, a heartbeat of sanity amidst the encroaching darkness. This amulet is a double-edged sword, offering brief respite at a potentially steep price.

Properties:

  • Sanity’s Respite: Once per long rest, the wearer can meditate with the amulet for 1 hour during a short rest. Upon completion, the wearer gains the benefits of a Sanity’s Respite, which grants clarity of mind. For the next hour, the wearer has advantage on Wisdom and Charisma saving throws against being frightened, charmed, or driven insane by magical or eldritch means. Additionally, the wearer can communicate and understand others as if they were under the effect of a comprehend languages spell for the same duration.
  • Fractured Echoes: When the Sanity’s Respite fades, the wearer must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or suffer a Fractured Echo for the next 24 hours. While suffering from Fractured Echoes, the wearer experiences unsettling visions and hears whispers, imposing disadvantage on all Wisdom (Perception) checks and causing the wearer to be distracted, as they are partially attuned to the whispers of their patron.
  • Curse of the Shattered Mind: If the amulet is used more than once between long rests, the wearer must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, they are afflicted by short-term madness (as determined by the DM) for 1d10 minutes.
