The goggles of these garish goggles are carved from an unknown glass. An odd energy seeps from within.
Enhanced Inspection. While wearing these goggles, you gain the following benefits:
- When you make an Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Perception) check, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the check.
- As an action, you can use the goggles to examine an object to identify the aura of the last creature that touched it. Make an Intelligence (Arcana or Investigation) check against a DC equal to 10 or the number of hours since the last contact occurred, whichever number is higher. On a success, you learn the creature’s type and can immediately use the goggles to cast locate creature to find that creature. This property can’t be used again until the next dawn.
- You can use these goggles in conjunction with your arcane focus to gain +1 to spell attacks and damage.
These goggles have 2 charges. The goggles regain all expended charges when you finish a short or long rest.
Detect Magic. While wearing these, you can expend 1 charge as a free action to cast detect magic with them. Concentration works as though you cast the spell.
Overclocking. If all charges have been spent, you may choose activate the goggles in this way again. To do so, make an Intelligence (Arcana or tinker's tools) check against a DC equal to 15 + the number of times you have attempted to activate the goggles after the charges have been spent. On a success, the spell is cast normally. On a failure, the goggles deal 1d6 magical fire damage per attempt after the charges have been spent to the user. After the 3 failures, the goggles no longer function. Functionality can be restored after finishing a long rest.
