This dark, twisted necklace is made from a seemingly living metal, with viral pustules that glow faintly with a sickly green light. It thrums with a malevolent energy, eager to spread devastation in its wake.
Infected Wounds (Passive). When the attuned wearer casts a targetted spell that deals damage to a target, Virulent Strain imbues the spell with a virulent plague. The target suffers an additional 1d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns for the next 3 turns. This effect does not stack but can be reapplied once it expires.
Weakening Disease (Passive). Any target suffering from the damage over time plague effect of the Virulent Strain has their Armor Class decreased by 2 against attacks made by the attuned wearer, as the arcane disease ravages the defences in their body.
Virulent Spread (1/Reaction). If a target dies while under the effect of the necklace's damage over time plague, the plague attempts to spread to a new host. The wearer can immediately use their reaction to apply the effect to another creature within 10 feet of the deceased target.
Note - Any ability that removes diseases will remove the plague from a host.
