A collection of pages inscribed by an ancient Lich and its associates documenting their plans to gain control of the entire world using domain and corruption spells and the location of a powerful object of chronomancy hidden by the Lich, bound in a cover made from a hardened mold-like substance. When the text is inscribed onto another surface, black fungus and mold begin to spread from the words onto the surface until it is completely covered. The object then becomes very brittle and thick black spores are blown into the air if it crumbles. If the spores are inhaled a creature must make a Constitution saving throw against their own Wisdom score. On a failed save, the creature must take (2d6 + the creatures INT modifier) psychic damage and reduce their maximum hit points. If the mold comes into contact with a creature, it spreads from the point of contact and makes its way towards the creature's brain. The creature's magical abilities are heightened exponentially (spells cast have a +2 spell slot level effect) and if the mold reaches the brain, all knowledge within the original text is implanted into their mind, whether the creature can understand it or not.
Legends state that a war took place long ago against the Lich and its organization. The Lich was killed and cast into the sea along with all of its belongings so they may drift away from the land and terrorize its residents no longer. The Lich was never seen or heard from again, so their effort was largely considered to be successful, but the Lich's documents and plans that were bound together sank into the ocean just below the shore it was cast from. The Ancient Text's influence and mold spread throughout the seafloor and continues to spread to this day, corrupting all it comes into contact with. It is unknown where the rumor originated, but it is said that there is a cipher within the Ancient Text that, when decoded, can cast a spell that will cover the land in a thick cloud of spores and allow the caster to declare a zone of safety so they may remain safe from the spore's influence.
