The Spellburn Staff is a slender, darkwood staff, its surface carved with intricate symbols that pulse with a soft, inner light. It was designed by Acrecian Elves, fascinated by metamagic, and seeked to replicate the effects for those whom learned magic through study. Though they failed in their attempts to recreate metamagic, the resulting staff still boasted a potent power.
Arcane Precision (Passive). While holding the staff, the wielder gains a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls.
Spell Slot Burn. The staff allows its wielder to expend spell slots to enhance their spells in specific ways, the effect changing depending on the spell slot level burned away. You may only burn one spell slot when you cast a spell at a time, and still lose the spell slot of the original spell.
Spell Infusion (1st-Level Slot). The wielder can enhance a spell to deal an additional 1d8 damage for damage-dealing spells. For non-damaging spells, the duration is increased by 25%.
Focused Casting (2nd-Level Slot). Provides a +1 bonus to the spell's save DC or spell attack roll.
Disruptive Magic (3rd-Level Slot). The caster makes one target of the spell suffer disadvantage on their first saving throw against it.
Overwhelming Power (4th-Level Slot). The spell is treated as one level higher for the purposes of counterspelling or determining its difficulty to dispel, while also granting the same power as Spell Infusion.
Arcane Overcharge (5th-Level Slot). The spell bypasses any creatures resistance and immunity. All counterspell attempts are made with disadvantage, while also granting the same power as Spell Infusion.
