The item is a series of 5 ornate nesting dolls. The outermost doll appears to be incredibly old, and the images resemble warriors of a time long ago. After use, each subsequent doll appears slightly newer than the last. The item is used by twisting the outermost doll open. This action destroys the opened doll pieces and releases a powerful spirit with 10d20 (101) hit points and weakness to radiant damage (the DM determines any other stats). The spirit will fight your enemies to the death. If the spirit has remaining hit points after the encounter is over, roll a d20 with the following effects:
- roll 1: the user's soul becomes sealed in the innermost doll** and the spirit takes possession of the user's body
- roll 2-11: the spirit engages combat with the user; if the user's hit points drop to 0, then the effects of rolling 1 occur
- roll 12-20: the spirit dissolves peacefully
**The doll containing the trapped soul cannot be opened for 100 years. Alternatively, a soul may be freed with a wish spell.
