The creation of a pact is taxing to the wielder and causes 2d6 necrotic damage that also lowers their hit point maximum for the duration of the benefits determined by both parties, if the duration is specified as permanent then the creature must contribute part of their soul depending on the strength of the contract.
When the wielder has a creatures soul they can use an action to see and hear through their perspective, always know the distance and direction to the creature and can summon them as long as they are on the same plane of existence using an action, a creature without a soul suffers a permanent reduction in their health by 3d6, the wielder can also choose to burn a soul and a contract on a hit dealing 2d6 extra necrotic damage per soul used but nullifying the contract
