Weapon (battleaxe), very rare (requires attunement by a Required class: Bard)

This battleaxe appears to be a standard weapon except for its glossy black finish, plus eight thin metal wires that run from the top of the axe head to the spike at the other end of the handle.

Any lightning or thunder spell of at least 1st level may be cast into the axe to power it for ten minutes. When powered, electricity visibly arcs up and down the wires. Another spell cast into the axe while is is powered will recharge it for another ten minutes.

While powered and held as a weapon by a bard who has attuned it, the axe becomes a +1 magic weapon until the charge dissipates. The type of the damage is lightning.

While powered and held as an instrument by a bard who has attuned it, the axe will transform into a lute which plays in perfect tune, the sound of which can be clearly heard from 100 feet away. The the bard can pull any string of the lute hard enough to break it, which will cast Thunderwave at 1st level. Broken strings may be repaired by an Artificer for approximately 100 gold pieces in materials and labor.

Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
