Ashmedai is a 4' long, double-edged longsword, with an edge appearing to be lined with diamonds, an elaborate lily shaped guard, and a grip that rounds out at the pommel. The grip is wrapped in a stained dark pink superior leather, the blade is made of a celestial, pale-white metal that looks almost like a fine polished silver. When in the hands of a deity the blade glows in the hands of its wielder with whatever aura color the god embues. When in the presence of another god, the blade glows brightly like a pale-blue star, and patterns of white vines grow rapidly along the blade.
It has the following effects:
Damage
3d8 slashing single handed or 3d10 two handed + STR or DEX + CHA
3d8 radiant damage
+3- You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Mortal Yet- When a god enemy is struck by this weapon, it does an additional 8d8x4 of whatever damage type they are vulnerable to.
Immortal No Longer- If a god is slain by this weapon, instead of receding to their plane of existence, Ashmedai consumes the god's soul, and destroys it. There is no way to undo this, not even by a wish spell. The only way to prevent this would be to somehow reverse time, and stop the god from being killed.
Sentience- Ashmedai is a sentient neutral weapon, with 14 intelligence, 14 wisdom, and 20 charisma. It communicates in a telepathic radius, which it can lengthen or shorten up to a maximum of 80 feet, and has darkvision for 120 feet. It can 'hear' both orally and telepathically. If a player of an evil alignment attempts to wield her, she will not tolerate this and will deal 8d8 radiant damage to the holder.
Personality- Ashmedai's voice can only be described as that of a soothing, motherly figure. She has one goal--to slay the dark gods of the multiverse and those gods who have betrayed their followers or committed horrible acts against their domain or orientation. She holds a particular animosity towards Garl Glittergold, though unless the wielder has spent at least one year with her, she will not reveal why. After a month without any conflicts with the player, she will wholly believe in them, and will support them unless their actions are extremely cruel or evil (up to the DM to judge this).
Test of War- When first approached by the players, she will ask them if their heart is good, and what gods they believe in. If the players answer with 'none' or 'I'm not sure' (or variations of such), then she will seem intrigued. At this point, if a player has said 'no' or 'I don't know', she will offer to let this player wield her, explaining her capabilities as a blade, and explaining her personal abilities as listed above. If multiple players have said 'no' or 'I don't know,' Ashmedai will ask that they both duel with regular longswords--not to the death, just until one is pinned by the other. The winner will get to wield her. Upon a winner being declared, she will formally introduce herself as Asmodeous, but ask that in public conversation, she be addressed by her current name of Ashmedai.
